Mingxing Temple (National 3-A Scenic Spot)

  Located in Gangyaoling Village, Gangyaoling Township, Nanpiao District, Huludao City, Liaoning Province, Mingxing Temple that started to be built in the 27th year in the reign of Guangxu Emperor in the Qing Dynasty (1901AD) is a national 3-A scenic spot.  

  Mingxing Temple was a large temple in Chaoyang Prefecture at that time. There are five rows of buildings including over 60 halls and rooms covering 4,550 square meters. The buildings leaning hills faces south. The temple is axisymmetrical. The layout of the building is regular and compact. The temple was listed as a provincial cultural relic protection site by Liaoning Provincial People’s Government in 2007.  

  Mingxing Temple is a “three religions in one” temple, which embodies the integration of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism as a whole of Chinese culture. The building complex of Mingxing Temple is a relatively complete “three religions in one” temple in Northeast China. The layout of the buildings is compact. The complex of the buildings reflects ingenious ideas and the buildings are fine products of traditional Chinese architecture. These buildings not only inherited the fine and gorgeous architectural style of the late Qing Dynasty, but also possessed the new style of learning from the Western in the early years of the Republic of China. They are typical representative works of the transitional period. The structures of the temple buildings are diverse and the buildings are exquisite in workmanship. They are of great value in the fields of history, science and art.
