Xudabu Sea Cucumber is a kind of stichopus japonicus (known as Liaoning Sea Cucumber). The sea cucumber grows in the Bohai Sea near 39 degrees north latitude in Liaoning Province.It is a special local product of Xudabao Town, a small coastal town under the jurisdiction of Xingcheng, which is a tourist resort. The water level around Xiaohaishan Island and Changshansi Peninsula in the sea area is quite deep. There are many reefs around the island and the peninsula. The tide in the bay is smooth and the water is blue and clean. There are abundant varieties of sea baths and micro-organisms. This is a natural habitat for sea cucumbers.   

　　Xudabu sea cucumbers are black. The sea cucumbers are well-proportioned and spindle-shaped. Sea cucumber spines are strong and straight, showing inverted triangle type. Sea cucumber meat is thick and uniform, transparent in color, firm and elastic. The tendons of sea cucumber are golden, wide, thick and tough. Xudabu sea cucumbers contain precious acid mucopolysaccharides, 18 kinds of amino acids and other active substances. They are rich in nutrition. They are recognized to be high-quality sea cucumbers by the industry and the best nourishment by the society.  

　　At present, the total area of sea cucumber culture in Xudabu Town is 50,000 mu, of which 30,000 Mu is kept in deep sea and 20,000 mu in captivity. The annual output of fresh sea cucumbers is 5 million kilograms, and the output value reaches 500 million yuan. Compared to other towns in Liaoning Province, Xudabu Town has the highest annual output of sea cucumber. The sea cucumbers are of high quality and there is a wide variety of products.There are single frozen ready-to-eat sea cucumbers, instant ready-to-eat sea cucumbers, dried sea cucumbers, tribute dried sea cucumbers, semi-dried sea cucumbers, ready-to-eat sea cucumbers in water bags, etc. The products have been in short supply in the national sea cucumber market. There are well-known sea cucumber brands such as Laobao Sea Cucumber, Darun Aquatic Products and Ningshentang whose products are sold in Beijing, Chongqing, Shandong, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian,Heilongjiang, etc. Their products enjoy a good reputation throughout the country and are well received by customers.  

　　Xudabu Town was jointly awarded the title of Sea Cucumber Hometown of Liaoning Specialty by Liaoning Rural Economic Commission, Liaoning Agricultural Department, Liaoning Marine and Fisheries Department and Liaoning Animal Husbandry Bureau in Oct. 2014. Xudabu Town was determined by Liaoning Province as Coastal Tourism Town with Sea Cucumber Characteristics, which was one of the first batch of characteristic towns.  

　　Xudabu Town will take the opportunity to expand the brand  Sea Cucumber Hometown- Liaoning Specialty. It will will increase the propaganda of sea cucumber industry culture and push Xudabu Sea Cucumber to the international market by making full use of the platforms of the Sea Cucumber Festival, online marketing and direct stores.
